Welcome to Middle School Art! You will have art class two or three times a week for a quarter (about nine weeks) of each middle school year. In 6th grade what you do in Art class will often follow what you are learning about in Social Studies--when you are studying Ancient Egypt in Social Studies we'll be learning about Ancient Egyptian art, etc. In 7th grade you will look at ways art is used to communicate and in 8th grade the lessons and projects are centered around traditional Japanese arts and crafts.
Homework: Usually, you won't have homework in Art, except maybe looking for information or pictures once in a while or finishing up a project that you didn't have time to finish in class, either because you were absent or just need some extra time to finish. Open Art room: Middle school students are welcome to come in and work or just visit after school. The art room is open to middle school students on most days until 4:30. You may use the art room to work on Art class projects, your own artwork, or projects for other classes if you would like to use the big tables or have space to work with other students. |
